Serving over 50,000+ unique patients annually across 15 clinical locations, our client provides critical services—family medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN, urgent care, physical therapy, dental, and more. As a federally funded nonprofit, they’re multi-faceted, innovative, and unapologetically committed to transforming lives.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll oversee our client’s accounting operations, lead a team of up to 7 direct reports, and play a pivotal role in stabilizing and scaling their financial future. What You’ll Do:

  • Own the Numbers: Manage end-to-end accounting operations—monthly closes, grant accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting—ensuring accuracy, compliance, and transparency in a GAAP-driven world.
  • Lead with Insight: Deliver financial reports and actionable recommendations to leadership, governance bodies, and external stakeholders, including annual 990 filings, healthcare-specific reconciliations (e.g., Medicare/Medicaid), and audit-ready documentation.
  • Build the Foundation: Partner with the CFO to design and enforce robust internal controls, refine policies, and safeguard assets while managing fixed assets, lease accounting (ASC 842), and pharmacy inventory controls.
  • Grow a Team: Supervise and mentor a lean but talented accounting crew, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement as you rebuild and upskill the department.
  • Navigate Complexity: Support grant budgeting/reporting, coordinate annual audits, and collaborate cross-functionally to align financial strategy with our client’s mission and operational goals.
  • Drive Change: Lead the charge on process optimization—think system migrations (our client is eyeing Sage Intacct), automation, and efficiency gains—to elevate their accounting function.

Who You Are:

  • A seasoned accounting pro with a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) and 5+ years in a Controller or equivalent role—healthcare experience is a big plus, but our client will train the right person on FQHC specifics.
  • A GAAP guru who can run the show independently, freeing up the CFO for big-picture priorities.
  • A team builder with a track record of mentoring staff and managing multiple direct reports (up to 7 here).
  • Adaptable and tech-savvy—familiarity with MIP Fund Accounting, Sage Intacct, or Bill.com is a bonus, but a willingness to learn is key.
  • CPA preferred but not required—bring the skills, and they’ll talk.
